Ken Duggan

In 2005 Ken ventured into a project with a Chinese business partner in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, near Shanghai. They established from scratch, an Irish Pub, (Shamrock Irish Bar) targeting the growing Chinese professional market and the expatriate community working in Singapore Industrial Park (SIP) in Suzhou.This venture serves one of the largest Industrial Zones in China and the Pub is now firmly established as the market leader in Suzhou.
He is a member of the Ireland China Association and addressed its AGM in 2007 on “Setting up a Business in China”.
Ken has wide experience in the educational sector as a teacher, guidance counsellor, and secondary school Principal. He is a member of the Education Task Force (Business in the Community), Chairperson of a Board of Management of a secondary school and a board member of the Medical Ethics Committee, Trinity Court Drug Treatment Centre.
He has also worked as a consultant to NGOs and charitable organisations specialising in recruitment, training and corporate funding. He was the first fulltime director of the Irish Refugee Council.
He is currently completing his Doctoral studies in Trinity College Dublin.
Ken has invested in the Chinese property market. Recently he has been successfully involved in sourcing a range of products in China which include, cement, uniforms, steel, furniture, fabrics, bathroom fittings, clay pigeons, healthcare products, financial services, and plastic mouldings on behalf of Irish and international clients of Chinaportal.
Ken has a unique practical experience of Chinese business culture and ethos, which will give an extra dimension to companies wishing to operate in China. He has also assisted Chinese companies seeking investment opportunities in the western market.
